Thank You

Oxfam GB would like to thank all those who participated in the National Agriculture Learning Event for making it such a success. We are particularly grateful to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development for its engagement with the event and the leadership it is showing with regard to smallholder farming in Ethiopia.

Over the course of the three days, we enjoyed an array of presentations outlining a variety of experiences in this field of work, which will continue to enrich our approach to smallholder agriculture in the years to come.

Finally we are delighted to announce that the Learning Event concluded with the establishment of a multi-stakeholder forum, which will bolster our work as we look to forge a bright future for smallholder agriculture in Ethiopia.

The presentations are now available for downloading from the website, and shortly we will be uploading a workshop report.

Thank you again because without your participation none of this would have been achieved.

Objectives

The specific objectives of the workshop will be:

    1. To initiate multi-stakeholder dialogue on increased investment on smallholder agriculture and develop a mechanism for ongoing debate
    2. To share experiences on models of change, challenges and opportunities in smallholder agriculture in Ethiopia; and
    3. To deliberate on the way forward and explore opportunities for scaling-up in collaboration with stakeholders

Expected Workshop outputs

The learning from the event will contribute the stakeholders towards increased understanding and mechanisms to facilitate:

    1. New business models on smallholder agriculture
    2. Value Chain Development
    3. Private sector Engagement
    4. Women’s Economic Leadership
    5. Coordination among key players in the smallholder agriculture, including the private sector
